Ingredients

  • For the Chicken:
    • 2 lbs chicken thighs, drumsticks, wings, or breasts
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp cornstarch
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • 1 tsp onion powder
    • 1 tsp paprika
    • 1 tsp salt
    • ½ tsp black pepper
    • 2 large eggs, whisked with 2 tbsp water
    • Oil for frying (if applicable)
  • For the Hot Honey Sauce:
    • ½ cup honey
    • 2 tbsp butter
    • 12 tsp chili flakes
    • 1 tbsp hot sauce
    • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:

Pat chicken dry and season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

Set up two bowls: one with flour and cornstarch, and another with whisked eggs. Dip chicken into flour, then egg, and back into flour.

Cook the Chicken:

Oven: Preheat to 400°F (200°C). Place chicken on a wire rack over a baking sheet and bake for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Skillet: Heat ½ inch of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches for 4-6 minutes per side until golden and crispy.

Air Fryer: Preheat to 375°F (190°C). Cook chicken in a single layer for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway.

Make the Hot Honey Sauce:

In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in honey, chili flakes, hot sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Coat the Chicken:

Toss cooked chicken in the hot honey sauce until fully coated.

Serve:

Transfer to a platter, garnish with fresh herbs or sesame seeds, and serve immediately.

Notes

Adjust the chili flakes and hot sauce to control the spice level.

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
