Ingredients

Dough:

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp salt

Chocolate Filling:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (optional)

Optional Toppings:

  • Melted chocolate drizzle
  • Powdered sugar dusting
  • Chocolate sprinkles


Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

  • Prepare the Chocolate Filling:
  • Melt the chocolate chips in 15-second intervals in the microwave, stirring between each.
  • Stir in cocoa powder and powdered sugar (if using). Set aside to cool slightly.

Assemble the Buns:

  • Punch down the risen dough and divide into 12 equal portions.
  • Flatten each piece into a small disc, spoon a teaspoon of chocolate filling into the center, and seal tightly. Roll into a ball and place seam-side down on a greased baking tray.

Second Rise:

  • Cover the buns with a clean towel and let rise for 30-45 minutes until puffy.

Bake the Buns:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the buns for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.

Add Toppings:

  • Drizzle with melted chocolate or dust with powdered sugar before serving.
