Chicken Tortellini Recipes – Creamy, Brothy & Baked Variations

  • Author: Chef Ziz

Description

A creamy, comforting dish combining tender chicken, cheesy tortellini, and a rich Parmesan sauce—perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (16 oz) cheese-filled tortellini (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 cups cooked and shredded chicken (rotisserie works great)
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Tortellini

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

Add the tortellini and cook according to the package instructions (usually 2–4 minutes for fresh tortellini or 6–8 minutes for frozen).

Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Sauce

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.

Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine.

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

Add Cheese and Seasonings

Stir in the Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

Let the sauce cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

Combine Chicken and Tortellini

Add the cooked chicken to the skillet and stir to coat it in the sauce.

Gently fold in the cooked tortellini, making sure everything is well-coated.

Serve and Garnish

Transfer the chicken tortellini to serving plates.

Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or basil for a pop of color.

Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

If the sauce thickens too much, add a splash of milk or broth to loosen it.

For extra flavor, toss in sun-dried tomatoes or sautéed mushrooms.
